“I bring my ancestry to the media I enjoy working with. Entre conucos y cantos de tambores I created my essence, my background moving forward to a global consciousness of heritage, traditions and interconnections with humans from all over the world. I'm a language lover, and with their linguistics I encounter different ways of approaching life.”

About Me
My Story:
Rooted in Heritage, Leading through Education
I am an Afro-Indigenous educator, born in Caracas, Venezuela. Since 2000, my journey has been defined by the power of language. Today, I serve as a World Languages teacher and Department Chair at Charlotte, NC, where I believe that teaching a language is, above all, an act of opening doors to new identities.
Beyond the classroom walls, my work continues as the co-founder of the nonprofit “La Casa de la Cultura / The Culture House.” As a multidisciplinary artist, performer, and cultural promoter, I lead with my heritage and roots, creating vibrant spaces for interaction among people from different diasporas and countries.
As a woman and a member of a minority community, I focus on the spaces where our voices have historically been silenced. My art serves as a form of resistance, empowerment, and an invitation to recognize the transformative power of our cultures. Through my practice, I aim to create environments for reflection—reminding us never to forget where we come from and acknowledging the immense value of the stories passed down to us.

Teaching is also a central pillar of my work, as I believe art can be a tool for educating, sensitizing, and raising awareness about the significance of our traditions and collective memory. My work invites viewers to connect with their own identities, take pride in their cultural legacy, and reflect on the importance of continuing to celebrate what unites us as a community.
As a multidisciplinary artist, my work focuses on celebrating our cultural roots, preserving our traditions, and nurturing the love of teaching. Through various mediums, I explore what defines us as human beings: our languages, idiosyncrasies, gastronomy, and the customs passed down through generations. My work aims to highlight and honor the richness of oral traditions, stories shared through generations, as vital vehicles to keep our histories and identities alive.
